From Noi Bai Airport, please take a taxi to go to the conference site (Hanoi Horison Hotel). The average cost is about 20 US$. However, if you inform the Conference Secretariat of your flight number and the air carrier as well as the date and time of your arrival, the conference will organize a welcome team of vietnamese physicists who will meet you at the airport between 8:00 and 22:00. If you arrive after 22:00 or your flight is delayed, please take a taxi to go to the Hanoi Horison Hotel. For the arrival day (July 19), the welcome team will be at the Noi Bai airport from 8 am to 8 pm to help arriving participants who have informed the Conference Secretariat of their arrivals.

A limited team of secretaries will be present in Hanoi starting from

The registration desk will be opened at the Conference site on Wednesday
July 19 from 9:00 to 20:00.
We encourage the participants to register on July 19 in order to avoid
congestion on the first morning of the Conference.
The conference fee for participants will be 300 US$. It will cover the cost of the copy of the proceedings and the cost of all social events.

Payment of the accomodation fees (hotel and meals) should be done at
your arrival directly to the travel agency either by cash or by credit
card.
Important note : Hotel reservations are made for the whole
duration of the meeting, i.e. from Wednesday July 19 afternoon to Tuesday
July 25 morning (lunch included).
Please note that the total cost of the
meeting will not be reduced even in case of partial attendance.
Lunches and dinners will be served at Hanoi Horison Hotel. The restaurant can prepare a few extra plates for vegetarians but cannot accommodate special kinds of foods for religious requirements. If you need special diet or have to avoid some kind of food due to medical reasons, please let us know at the earlesr possible time of your health requirement and we will try to do what we can.
A visa is requested for entering in Vietnam.
For those who have sent their visa application form, they will receive
the visa authorization with which they can obtain a visa at the
vietnamese embassy.
For those who did not yet send their visa application to Ms Barthelemy,
it is now too late to do it from France. They should send the visa

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday July 20 at 8:30 in the Conference Room of Hanoi Horison Hotel. All participants are welcomed to attend the ceremony.
The transparencies of the talks will be collected and scanned after the talk and made available on the web after the conference. However, the speakers are invited, if possible, to send before hand their transparencies in either PDF or Postscript file format to Jacques Dumarchez (jacques.dumarchez@cern.ch)
The IVth Rencontres du Vietnam proceedings will be published. The instructions for preparing a manuscript will be available on the Conference web site at the time of the conference. The deadline of submission of the camera ready manuscripts is October 15, 2000.
We will have 3-4 PCs for e-mail connections. As internet service is
very expensive in Vietnam, connection time will be limited.
If you have a laptop, please bring it with you. It will allow you to
avoid waiting in line for the terminals and connect directly to the
network from the hotel.
Some major internet service providers (ISPs)
such as AOL, etc may have access points in Hanoi. Please check with your
ISP whether they have access points in Hanoi before you come.
All the participants and their families are invited to the following events :
A volunteer-based program for accompanying persons will be etablished. A meeting with all interested people for a program of visit of Hanoi will be organized on Thursday July 20 at 10 am in the lobby of Hanoi Horison Hotel. Suggestions and proposals for this program is welcome and should be sent to : helene.mauger@cern.ch
All the tours : 1A (Hoa lu), 1B (Halong), 1 (Halong), 2 (North to South) and 3 (Sapa) will be organized. People who have registered for these tours will meet the travel organizers in Hanoi for payment of the tours. Payment can be made either by cash (preferred) or credit cards (with additional fees).
Summer in Hanoi is hot and humid. The temperature often goes up to 34o C ( 90o F ) in the daytime. Bring your scarves, hats and sunglasses. Conference rooms and hotels are generally well air-conditioned as are most taxis.
There are no compulsory vaccinations for travel to Hanoi or to big cities. However, it is a good idea to ensure that vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, polio and hepatitis are up to date. Please discuss your requirements with your doctor. Malaria prophylaxis may be recommended if you will be travelling in the courntryside. We also suggest that you bring with you some medecine against diarrhea: loperamide (Imodium) or a similar medicine for the symptoms if you need to travel and an antibiotic for real treatment in the case of a bacterial infection.
In addition to the Vietnamese currency, Dong, the most common currency
used in Vietnam is the US dollar. The exchange rate is approximately :
1 US$ = 14 000 VND.
ATM cashing service for bank cards is not
available in Vietnam. Credit cards are accepted at hotels (**** and up)
and the more expensive restaurants. We recommend that participants bring
US dollars in cash or travellers' checks and exchange it in Vietnamese
Dongs. There is a safe in each room at Hanoi Horison Hotel.
